According to the World Health Organization (WHO), almost 70% of the African population living with Diabetes is unaware of their condition and about 45 million adult population have Impaired Glucose Tolerance (IGT) which places them at high risk of developing type 2 diabetes.

Keysight Technologies, Inc. In August 2020, Keysight signed an MoU with IITM to support Telecom Standards Development Society, India (TSDSI) in the development of India-specific 5G standards to encourage Indian startups and the telecom industry to take an early lead in 5G. The Department of Telecommunications (DoT) funded the large-scale project called '5G Testbed' with the goal to build a test bed that closely resembles a real-world 5G deployment using equipment developed by Keysight.
 
As 5G is getting ready for rollout, 6G is emerging as the new wireless technology with more unique capabilities and use cases coverage. The new MoU extends the existing engagement to enable Keysight and IITM to continue working together in areas of mutual interest devoted to technical development and India's plan to launch 6G services in the country by 2030.

Highest-ever second quarter mined metal production at 255kt, up 3% YoY, driven by better grades and improved mill recoveries. Sequential growth of 1% was largely on account of better grades.

Refined metal production at 246kt, an increase of 18% YoY with improved smelter performance, better mined metal availability and base impact due to extended maintenance shutdown in the same period last year. However, refined metal was lower by 6% QoQ because of lower roaster availability due to breakdown of an acid storage tank at Chanderiya plant in 2QFY23 and time taken in ramp up of production post maintenance.

Integrated zinc production was at 189kt, up 16% YoY and down 8% QoQ. Refined lead production was 57kt up 21% YoY and 5% QoQ. Saleable silver production was 6.2 moz, up 28% YoY and 10% QoQ in line with lead metal production and WIP liquidation.

1HFY23

First half mined metal production at 507kt was 8% higher YoY, on account of increase in ore production, further supported by better grades & improved operational efficiency.

First half refined metal production at 506kt, was up 13% YoY, resulting from consistent mined metal flow from mines and better plant availability partly offset by acid storage tank breakdown at Chanderiya plant in 2QFY23.

1HFY23 integrated zinc production was at 395kt, up 13% YoY and refined lead production was at 110kt, up 16% YoY. Saleable silver production was 11.9 moz, up 19% YoY in-line with lead metal production.

A trade mission of companies in the field of renewable energy from the Belgian industrial region of Wallonia announced future expansion of partnerships with its Indian counterparts.

India and Belgium are engaged in a dialogue on renewable energy through a Joint Working Group co-chaired by the Indian Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE). This year, India and Belgium are set to renew their memorandum of understanding in the field of renewable energy for another 5 years. 

A delegation of the Walloon (originating from Wallonia) business cluster TWEED took part in a week-long trade mission to meet their Indian counterparts and discussed market opportunities, knowledge transfer and technological partnerships. The Walloon business cluster TWEED congregates more than two hundred stakeholders (from MNCs to SMEs, through universities and R&D centers), with the aim of fostering high quality and industrial-size projects in the fields of the production of sustainable energy.

Between 26th of September and 30th of September, the Trade Commissions of Wallonia in India programmed B2B meetings, brokerage and networking events. The delegation started the two-day program in Mumbai dedicated to meeting prospective Indian companies and large power generation groups such as Reliance or Tata, and then took part in the Renewable Energy India (REI) Expo in Delhi NCR.

Wallonia, which boasts a population of roughly a fifth of Delhi, is known to be the world's 2nd region to implement the Industrial Revolution some 150 years ago. That early innovative and pioneering spirit has remained a feature that keeps it at the forefront of engineering excellence to this day, and confers it a leadership role in a wide variety of niche sectors.

Due to its ideal location in the heart of Europe's industrial crescent, Wallonia is the perfect launching pad for Indian businesses looking to develop activities in Europe and benefit from an open innovation landscape (e.g. through the Greenwin or TWEED innovation clusters). Designed and developed at Hero's state-of-the-art R&D hubs, the Centre of Innovation and Technology (CIT) in Jaipur and the Hero Tech Centre Germany (TCG) near Munich, VIDA V1 is being manufactured at Hero MotoCorp's Garden Factory at Chittoor, in the southern Indian state of Andhra Pradesh.
 
The development and production of the VIDA V1 follows all-encompassing approach to sustainability involving compliance with strict environmental and social standards in the extraction of raw materials, plus the use of electricity from renewable sources and a high proportion of recycled materials in the mix.
 
VIDA V1 is being launched in a phased manner, with the product being available for retail sales in Delhi, Bengaluru and Jaipur to begin with, and subsequently in other cities.

VIDA V1 goes up a gradient of 18+ degrees with a 60 % SOC and 2 riders. The VIDA V1 comes with standard five-year warranty for 50,000 kms. The batteries are covered by a warranty valid for three years or up to 30,000 kilometers.

These districts are identified by the government of India as those with poor socio-economic indicators. This year, Coca-Cola seeks to evoke a feeling of togetherness among people, and encourages them to celebrate Diwali in-person. Over the past two years, the festive season has been missing the spark of physical connections, as people resorted to 'virtual wishes' amidst the pandemic.

In her convocation address delivered virtually, Dr. Rigoberta Menchú Tum, Nobel Laureate urged the graduates to do something for those who are less privileged than them, even as they pursue their professional career. The Guest of Honour, Mr. John Desmond Forbes Anderson (Lord Waverley), Hon'ble Member of British Parliament, UK stated that India is an economic powerhouse and shares much in common with UK. He advocated expanding the areas of cooperation between the two countries, including the Free Trade Agreement.

Senator, Dr. Rasha Kelej, CEO of Merck Foundation and also an Executive Director of the song expressed, "We at Merck Foundation mark Girl Child Day every day through our continuous efforts with our partners, African First ladies to implement 'Educating Linda' program in their countries, which is a part of our 'More Than a Mother' campaign. I strongly believe that an educated girl will lead a healthy life, save lives, build a stronger family, earn a better income, make informed choices, empower her community, lift her country and reduce inequalities. However, it has been seen that many girls drop out of the school due to many challenges such as: lack of necessities such as fees and uniforms. Therefore, as a part of 'Educating Linda' program, in partnership with the African First Ladies who are also the Ambassadors of Merck Foundation 'More Than a Mother' campaign we have contributed to the future of 1000's of girls by providing with scholarships and essential school items in many African countries."

CLAR MARIE WEAH, The First Lady of Liberia, also the Ambassador of Merck Foundation More Than a Mother, distributed essential school items to over 450 school-going girls in Liberia. The items were provided by Merck Foundation as a part of our Educating Linda project. More will be distributed in the near future, moreover we will provide scholarships to 20 unprivileged but brilliant Liberian girls to continue their school education." added Senator Rasha Kelej.
 
As a part of Educating Linda Program, Merck Foundation in partnership with the African First Ladies has provided scholarships for young girls in many countries like Burundi, Central African Republic, DRC, Ghana, The Gambia, Malawi, Namibia, Nigeria, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Merck Foundation has also provided 3,000 sets of essential school items for girls' schools in many countries like Angola, Burundi, Central African Republic, the Democratic Republic of the Congo, The Gambia, Ghana, Liberia, Malawi, Namibia, Niger, Nigeria, and Zambia. Each of the recipients gets a set containing 1 Ruler, 3 Pencils, 2 Erasers, 1 Sharpener, 1 Pen, 6 Color Pencils, 1 Triangular Ruler, 1 Protractor, and 1 Fabric Bag.
 
Senator, Dr. Rasha Kelej further emphasized, "In partnership with the African First Ladies, we have been building healthcare capacity through providing training to healthcare providers in many medical specialties. More than 1470 medical graduates have benefitted from this program so far. I am very proud that out of these over 650 are female medical graduates. This is close to 50% of the total beneficiaries, which is a great milestone for us.
Moreover, we have emphasized on the importance of supporting girl education through "Our Africa by Merck Foundation", a pan-African Tv program broadcasting across the continent and available on our social media."
 
Merck Foundation has also announced the MARS Awards to appreciate and recognize 'Best African Women Researchers' and 'Best Young African Researcher'. The aim is to empower women and young African researchers, advance their research capacity and promote their contribution to STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics).
 
Moreover, Merck Foundation has released many inspiring children's storybooks and songs for supporting girls' education.
