VIDA, Powered by Hero, the emerging mobility brand of Hero MotoCorp - the world's largest manufacturer of motorcycles and scooters - has set a new Guinness World Records Title, providing yet another fillip to the electric vehicle industry.
 
The company's first electric vehicle, the VIDA V1 scooter, ran for 24 hours non-stop and broke the existing world record for maximum distance achieved by nearly 350 kms.
 
The VIDA V1 now holds the following Guinness World Records Title –
 
"The greatest distance on an electric scooter in 24 hours by a team in relay is 1780 kms (1106.04 mi) and was achieved by Hero MotoCorp's VIDA V1, at Hero Centre for Innovation and Technology (CIT) Jaipur, India from 20 to 21 April 2023."

The six-rider team started the record attempt on April 20, 2023, at 6.45 am and took turns in a relay format to ride the VIDA V1. The team shattered the existing record at around 2 AM on April 21, 2023. The final lap was completed at 6.45 AM on the same morning at a distance of 1780 kilometers.
 
With ambient temperatures nearing 40*C and track temperatures over 50*C, the VIDA V1 delivered peak performance throughout the 24 hours. A team of CIT engineers supported the riders with battery swaps during the run, most of which were under 20 seconds. 
 
The world-record-setting VIDA V1 has now been placed on exhibit at the CIT in Jaipur.

A group of deaf young people will join forces at a special global summit in London this week to urge world leaders to prioritise better access to hearing healthcare and support for millions of children around the world.
 
According to the World Health Organization, 34 million children around the world live with disabling hearing loss1 and many do not receive hearing healthcare and support. This can lead to lower school performance, higher risk of dropping out of school, and less likelihood of accessing higher education2.
 
A young doctor, a model, and a gold medal-winning athlete are amongst those who will convene in London to help address these challenges. Cochlear Foundation selected these young people to attend the summit, as part of its Achieve anything program. They were chosen because they have overcome barriers and achieved so much in life while inspiring others with hearing loss to fulfil their dreams.
 
More than 160 young people from 35 countries shared their stories in the program, which was established to highlight real world experiences of children and young people with hearing loss and demonstrate the importance of early access to hearing healthcare and support.
 
At the summit, the young attendees will work with hearing advocacy network CIICA (Cochlear Implant International Community of Action) to launch a consultation process for the development of a global declaration on hearing loss for children and young people.
 
Based on the views of children and young people with hearing loss, the declaration will challenge governments and health providers worldwide to ensure young people have access to hearing healthcare as early as possible. This will build on the recommendations of the World Health Organization's World Report on Hearing, which underlines the urgency of hearing health needs to be prioritised by governments and society.
