Latest Inflation rate: Wholesale price-based inflation rate declined by (-) 3.48 per cent in May, a 3-year low, on easing prices of food, fuel and manufactured items.
Bucking the trends, shares of film production and distribution company Eros have jumped more than 19 per cent in Wednesday's session. The stock traded higher even as the Nifty Media index declined, according to exchange information. The shares traded at day's high of Rs 30.20. The film, production and distribution counter had settled at Rs 25.35 on Tuesday.
The benchmark S&P BSE Sensex gained 85 points to close the day at 63,228 while the blue-chip Nifty 50 index gained 40 points to finish at 18,755. 
Jettwings Airways: The newest entrant in the aviation sector, Jettwings Airways is set to start its operation from October in the country. On Wednesday, the airline, with its base in Guwahati, stated that it has received the No Objection Certificate (NOC) to operate Scheduled Commuter Air Transport Services in the country.

Mumbai: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) informed that India's domestic air passenger traffic grew 15 per cent year-on-year to 132.67 lakh passengers in May 2023. The country's domestic air passenger traffic was 114.67 lakh passengers in the year-ago period. Passengers carried by domestic airlines during January- May 2023 were 636.07 lakhs as against 467.37 lakhs during the corresponding period of the previous year thereby registering an annual growth of 36.10 per cent and monthly growth of 15.24 per cent.

The High Court of Karnataka has orally warned Facebook (Meta) that it may order its operations in India to be shut down if it does not cooperate with police investigation over a fake profile.
The central government has reduced the import duty on refined soybean and sunflower oils to 12.5 per cent from 17.5 per cent with effect from Thursday to boost domestic availability and check prices, a finance ministry notification said. Usually, India imports 'crude' soybean and sunflower oils, and not their 'refined' form. Yet, the government has reduced the duty on refined soybean and sunflower oils.

The country's domestic air passenger traffic was 114.67 lakh passengers in the year-ago period. Passengers carried by domestic airlines during January- May 2023 were 636.07 lakhs as against 467.37 lakhs during the corresponding period of the previous year thereby registering an annual growth of 36.10 per cent and monthly growth of 15.24 per cent.

India and China, the world's top oil users, continued to lap up heavily discounted Russian crude oil, buying as much as 80 per cent of the oil that Moscow exported in May, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said in a report.
Cloud major Oracle has laid off hundreds of employees and rescinded job offers in its $28 billion Cerner health unit, the media reported on Friday. According to a report in Insider, citing sources, the company has also cut back open positions within its health unit "after troubles with a massive government contract".
London: The UK government has announced the removal of an up to 4 per cent countervailing tariff on stainless steel bars and rods imported from India due to a perceived low impact on local suppliers. The UK's Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) said on Thursday that its recommendation that the countervailing measure on imports of stainless steel bars and rods from India be revoked has been agreed by the government. Countervailing measures are put in place to offset imports being sold at unfair prices due to government subsidies in their country of origin.

The central government has reduced the import duty on refined soybean and sunflower oils to 12.5 per cent from 17.5 per cent with effect from Thursday to boost domestic availability and check prices, a finance ministry notification said. Usually, India imports 'crude' soybean and sunflower oils, and not their 'refined' form. Yet, the government has reduced the duty on refined soybean and sunflower oils.
Stock markets: Equity benchmark indices rebounded in early trade on Friday amid positive global market trends and foreign fund inflows. The 30-share BSE Sensex jumped 280.62 points to 63,198.25 in early trade. The NSE Nifty climbed 82.8 points to 18,770.90.

India and China, the world's top oil users, continued to lap up heavily discounted Russian crude oil, buying as much as 80 per cent of the oil that Moscow exported in May, the International Energy Agency (IEA) said in a report.
Cloud major Oracle has laid off hundreds of employees and rescinded job offers in its $28 billion Cerner health unit, the media reported on Friday. According to a report in Insider, citing sources, the company has also cut back open positions within its health unit "after troubles with a massive government contract".
London: The UK government has announced the removal of an up to 4 per cent countervailing tariff on stainless steel bars and rods imported from India due to a perceived low impact on local suppliers. The UK's Trade Remedies Authority (TRA) said on Thursday that its recommendation that the countervailing measure on imports of stainless steel bars and rods from India be revoked has been agreed by the government. Countervailing measures are put in place to offset imports being sold at unfair prices due to government subsidies in their country of origin.
