UIDAI updates: The country's Aadhaar Card holders have made a great record in the month of May. May 2023 has seen a huge jump in Aadhaar number-based face authentication for service delivery. An official release informed that 1.06 crore such verifications took place in May, which is the highest-ever monthly figure. This is the second consecutive month when the number of face authentication has crossed one crore. "The number of face authentication transactions is on an upward trajectory and the monthly numbers clocked in May is an increase of 38 per cent, compared with such transactions reported in January 2023, indicative of its growing usage," the ministry said.

The World Bank has approved USD 1.5 billion in financing to accelerate India's low-carbon energy infrastructure. In a release Friday (June 30), World Bank said the financing will help India promote low-carbon energy by scaling up renewable energy and developing green hydrogen, among others.

Amid gains in overseas precious metal prices, Gold prices rose Rs 80 to Rs 59,030 per 10 grams in the national capital on Friday. According to HDFC Securities, the yellow metal had settled at Rs 58,950 per 10 grams in the previous trade. Silver, however, tumbled Rs 550 to Rs 70,700 per kilogramme.
Tomato prices: Amid the rising tomato prices in the country, the government on Friday said that prices of the commodity are likely to normalise within a fortnight. According to Consumer Affairs Ministry Secretary Rohit Kumar Singh, the prices will start decreasing once crops from Sirmaur and Solan (Himachal Pradesh) start arriving.
 The Central government on Friday raised interest rates on select saving schemes for the July-September quarter.
