Stock markets update: As investors preferred profit-taking after the recent sharp rally, equity indices benchmark Sensex and Nifty declined on the last trading day of 2023, wrapping up a record-setting year with benchmarks surging by up to 20 per cent. After a five-day winning run, selling pressure emerged in energy, banking and IT counters on Friday, which dragged indices lower, traders said.
A Mumbai court has permitted the CBI to question Yes Bank founder Rana Kapoor in connection with a loan granted to Ezeego One Travels and Tours Limited (EOTTL) by the private sector lender. Kapoor, who is the former MD and CEO of Yes Bank, is in judicial custody at present after he was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in March 2020 in a money laundering case linked to financial irregularities at the bank. Kapoor is lodged in the Taloja jail in Navi Mumbai.
Boeing has recommended airlines to conduct an inspection of their B737 Max fleet, after an international operator discovered a bolt with a missing nut while performing routine maintenance. In a statement on Friday, Boeing said the issue identified on the particular airplane has been remedied. The government today (December 31) appointed former Niti Aayog vice chairman Arvind Panagariya as the Chairman of the 16th Finance Commission.
Indian Oil Corporation Limited has released new prices of 19 kg Commercial LPG cylinder, the new prices came into effect starting today (January 1), the first day of the new year. However, there have not been any changes in the prices of Domestic 14.2 kg LPG cylinder used in households. Besides this, there has also been a change in the prices of Aviation Turbine Fuel (ATF Fuel) used in planes from today.

ITRs filing: A record high of 8.18 crore tax returns have been filed until December 31 for the Assessment Year (AY) 2023-2024 against 7.51 crore Income Tax Returns (ITRs) filed at the end of December 31, 2022, the Ministry of Finance said on Monday (January 1).
Boeing has recommended airlines to conduct an inspection of their B737 Max fleet, after an international operator discovered a bolt with a missing nut while performing routine maintenance. As many as 31 Nifty shares declined while 19 advanced.

It is also touted to be the world's largest and most modern centre for international diamond and jewellery business. In his address, PM Modi said that the Surat Diamond Bourse will create 150,000 new jobs and become a "one-stop shop" for artisans and businessmen.
